Zoey has really taken to blogging. She asked me to help her create a blog just for and about her and other canines. She says she wants to spotlight dogs like her. So there is no time like the present to start the New Year off with www.Zoeytherescue.blogspot.com

Zoey wants to remind you that there are tons of animals that need a FUREVER home. Also shelters need donations not only monetary but many other items too. She says to take in consideration that there are lots of humans who donate to wonderful, much-needed causes to help humans but there is not enough humans that donate to help save animals.

Snow--now more on the way

I drove Mama crazy because I kept yelling at her to let me go out on the deck and play ball.
(You didn't think I was going to go out there without my ball, did you?)
She kept telling me it was too cold and I had to keep barking to remind her that I am a
hearty canine (she really does forget at times that I am a dog.
Dad constantly reminds her of the fact).
Enough rambling...I can be relentless until I get what I want.
Sure enough, out ball and I went to play.

Hey ball, where did you go?

Come on ball, I should be able to see you in this white stuff.

Oh, I think I found you--red ball let it be you!
No luck.

I am still looking though. Ball, you really know how
to loose yourself in this cold fluff.

Ball, I am getting a bit anxious...

...please, show yourself...

Let me look over here...I am really getting
nervous that I lost you!

OMG, I can't find my ball.
Dad I need help!!!!!!! Please come now!

It really pays off to be relentless!
(Doesn't hurt to have a Dad to come to your rescue either.)

Remembering Trudy

Mama said we should share Trudy's picture in remembrance of her.
I never met Trudy. I hear she was a fabulous family dog and she is missed by our cousins.

What is she talking about?

I was looking over Mama's shoulder while she was perusing Facebook and I saw this cartoon that I thought I would share with you. Am I suppose to be all those things the woman is describing?

  • I am certainly not patient when it comes to my ball
  • I listen when it is to my advantage, like when I want some Cheerios
  • I don't know how to measure my faithfulness, I think Mama is more faithful than I. She is always talking to stars when we are out for walks in the evening. She believes Laura hears her.
  • I can be attentive when someone is offering a treat
  • Forgiving I am--if Dad yells at me for tearing the rug I certainly do forgive him
  • Even-tempered, nah, do you know any females that are even-tempered? I don't think so.
  • Unselfish, this is a tricky one...I guess I can share the sticks I find if I am forced to do so
  • Loyal, yeah, this trait I am proud to have. You threaten my Mama or Dad and you are dealing with me!
Dad, don't take offense to this cartoon.
You and I rule in Mama's book.

Oh no, not again

I just could not help myself. This time it wasn't Mama's fault (although the more I think about it I could view it differently). Mama thought she was playing it safe by putting her Crocs flip flops on the chest instead of the floor. I sadly have to admit, she is really getting good about not leaving shoes in my reach.

I was minding my own business, just like I am always reminded to do. I was innocently playing with my ball and spotted the flip flops on the chest.  I pondered the idea..ball...flip flops?  "Why not?" I gave it a little more consideration until the devil in me won. As much as I love my ball I chose the flip flops. I really did try to resist but to no avail. Once they were in my view my mouth naturally started salivating. No way can a girl fight that animal instinct. So I quickly grabbed them with my mighty jaws and chewed away until...Mama screamed.  I don't think I need to explain what happened next!

How Urbane Dog Rides Seattle Bus To Get To The Park

Dog takes the D line to the dog park, by herself.
Meet Eclipse, the dog that loves the bus.

JANUARY 13, 2015
Bill Chappell

That's the reaction one bus rider had in Seattle, after realizing a dog had just joined him for a ride through the city, traveling several stops to her destination: a dog park.

The story comes to us from Seattle's KOMO 4 TV, which reports that Eclipse, the black Labrador who is winning fans for riding a city bus by herself, lives very close to a bus stop.

Eclipse is owned by Jeff Young, who does not seem to be a control freak.

"It's not hard to get on" the bus, he tells KOMO. "She gets on in front of her house and she gets off at the dog park, three or four stops later."

It all started when Eclipse refused to wait for Young to finish a cigarette before getting on the bus that takes them to a dog park they regularly visit. Then she took the bus by herself again. In the past few weeks, the two-year-old dog has been noticed by many commuters, such as radio host Miles Montgomery of station KISW.

"She was most concerned about seeing out the window, and I couldn't figure out what that was," Montgomery tells KOMO. "It was really just about seeing where her stop was."
This week, the story of the well-mannered dog and her beguiled fellow bus riders is being embraced by Web readers hungry for a bit of uplifting and interesting news (we confess: we're in that group, too).

"All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does," commuter Tiona Rainwater tells KOMO. "She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?"

Just simply amazing! Eclipse, you are my idol!
Unfortunately there are no buses
that travel through our town.
Um, there are buses in my brother's town...
Dexter, hurry up and get big
so we can experience a
bus adventure together.

Owner Of Dog Abandoned In Train Station Comes Forward To Explain

Let the countdown to the "Kai the Dog" movie and children's book franchise begin. The story of the Shar-Pei mix who was abandoned in a Scottish railway station on January 2 is almost at its happy ending.

In case you weren't among those caught up in the dramatic tale, let's recap it: Kai was found at the Ayr train station a week and a half ago, tied to a railing next to a suitcase containing his bowl, a pillow, a toy and some food. With his adorably sad face and Paddington Bear back story, Kai became a viral sensation last week.

The
Scottish SPCA raised close to 4,900 pounds for his care (he needed an eye operation), while still searching for his owners. Finally, on Friday the woman who abandoned him was found, and she fessed up to the Daily Record.

Turns out, 39-year-old Fin Rayner had responded to an ad for the dog, but when she and her 9-year-old daughter showed up to buy him, she was disappointed that he wasn't the same dog she'd seen in the picture. The owner made her leave a deposit to take him for a walk, and then tore off in his car. She tried calling him and he never returned. Then Rayner, who says she panicked and needed to get her asthmatic daughter home on the last train, so she left the dog at the station.

Here's the thing: As cruel as it is to abandon a helpless animal like that, we're kind of glad she did. A woman who panics like she did was probably not going to be ready for the many, many challenges that come with owning a dog. What if she'd taken him home and mistreated him? We would never be the wiser. And because Kai, whose real name is actually Pluto, became so famous, he was able to get a much-needed
eye operation this weekend.

Now he's ready to be adopted by someone properly screened by the SPCA and prepared to give him a loving forever home.

Welcome Riggins

Bruiser’s parents have a new pup! If you remember, darling Bruiser left this planet way too early in May 2014. The new family member, Riggins, has no idea yet how lucky he is to be living in Renee’s house. He will soon realize he is a prince.

We found out about Riggins like everyone finds out news—through Facebook. Mama can’t wait to meet him. In the meantime, check him out. Mama copied FB pics.

Dexter is growing...

My nephew Dexter

He is shameless. When a pup is tired he will sleep anywhere.

My nephew is really handsome.

He can pass for a stuffed animal if he wants to.

This cracked me up. I hope that silly dog at least eats the cereal.
