Zoey has really taken to blogging. She asked me to help her create a blog just for and about her and other canines. She says she wants to spotlight dogs like her. So there is no time like the present to start the New Year off with www.Zoeytherescue.blogspot.com
Zoey wants to remind you that there are tons of animals that need a FUREVER home. Also shelters need donations not only monetary but many other items too. She says to take in consideration that there are lots of humans who donate to wonderful, much-needed causes to help humans but there is not enough humans that donate to help save animals.

Yikes, look who was looking at Dad while he was trimming the bushes!
Dad should be happy Mom wasn't around because she would
have retrieved that snake and chased Dad with it just for fun!

Last night Mama and Dad went to watch Emma practice gymnastics. Mama said Emma is improving a lot. She does a really good one-handed cartwheel. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go with them, and I missed seeing Emma. A surprise guest came to pick up Emma's instructor. His name is Remy. Mama said he is an adorable, calm, and friendly puppy. He looks just like my neighbor, Bella. Bella is much older. This dude is 7 months old. He finally found his furever home with Emma's instructor. She has two other dogs, so Remy now has siblings to play with whenever he wants to have some fun. Even though I didn't meet him I am thrilled that he found a great home.
Mama says this is so true and I can't argue with her. She has a lot of patience on our walks. Dad not to much but I still like going out with him. A girl can't miss marking every spot that has been peed on, every tree that has a scent of another dog, and just about anywhere else that entices one's nose. Just as long as it isn't on anyone's property.

Welcome to 2024!
I posted a few cartoons/pictures in January,
but I thought it was a good idea to include an updated picture of me, along
with a brief catchup on my happenings. I am no longer a puppy (as you can see), but I still act
like one! Specifically, when it comes to ball playing. Oh, how I love my red
Kong balls.
Anyway, back to my appearance, Mama calls me her “Frosted Sugar
Face” and I am okay with that (don’t know exactly what she means but it is fine
with me). She often asks me how did I get so gray so fast. Woof, woof, how am I
supposed to answer that question? Why do humans always have to analyze
everything?
Anyway, Mama spent the last 2 years trying her best to help
me with sores on my paws. She had me on every healthy diet you could think of. I lost some weight, which I needed to do. She hooked up with a knowledgeable, holistic store owner who guided her along
the journey. Unfortunately, everything she tried (and I endured) didn’t eliminate
the sores. Sometimes Mama felt so bad she would cry and then I would have to
lick her tears, which I love to do. Thank goodness this does end happily, at least for
now. After visiting a dermatologist a few times in the fall, and Mama being as
compulsive as she is and following his advice closely along with working with
the store owner, my sweet paws are as God intended them to be! Woof, woof, three
cheers for all of us!
Currently, I have a hematoma in my pinna (ear flap). We don’t
know how it happened, but it did. It doesn’t hurt me, but it is sometimes annoying.
Mama is working with the lady and my vet. Wish me luck
that the issue resolves soon. Mama puts the cone on me when she leaves the house
because I scratched the back of my pinna badly, which is now healing nicely. If
you are a praying human, please say a prayer that I don’t need surgery, which
is the next step if my ear flap doesn’t deflate.
Otherwise, I am proud to say I am aging well.
I will be 11 years old in a couple of weeks. I don’t worry about turning
gray because I am happy being me—Zoey Elizabeth. Everyone should feel happy to be who they are. I am a senior pup who loves to play ball, ball,
and more ball. I run occasionally, enjoy walks, sing a lot (sometimes I am quite
annoying), and I love my family.
Woof, woof, life is good and will be even better when my
ear flap heals.
I wish you all a loving family who cares about you like mine
does.
Happy 2024!
Woof, woof, till later,
Zoey Elizabeth
