Zoey has really taken to blogging. She asked me to help her create a blog just for and about her and other canines. She says she wants to spotlight dogs like her. So there is no time like the present to start the New Year off with www.Zoeytherescue.blogspot.com
Zoey wants to remind you that there are tons of animals that need a FUREVER home. Also shelters need donations not only monetary but many other items too. She says to take in consideration that there are lots of humans who donate to wonderful, much-needed causes to help humans but there is not enough humans that donate to help save animals.

Christmas puppy
Mama posted this picture on FB the other day and a lot of people couldn't believe I would sit and endure the torture. The photograph received a lot of "likes" also. I must admit it is an adorable holiday picture. But is it really me or do I have a twin some where in the universe?
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and blessings for the new year.

Dog food recalled again
Fast Facts
- The FDA is alerting pet owners and veterinary professionals about recalls of several dry dog foods after receiving complaints that dogs eating the food experienced vitamin D toxicity.
- Testing found that samples of the dog food contained excessive, potentially toxic amounts of vitamin D. Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, but very high amounts can cause serious health problems like kidney failure or death.
- At this time, the only pet products that have been impacted are food made for dogs.
- Pet owners should discontinue feeding these recalled products.
- The FDA is asking veterinarians who suspect vitamin D toxicity in their patients to report them through the Safety Reporting Portal or by calling their local FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinators. Pet owners can also report suspect cases to the FDA.
- This is a developing situation and additional recalls may be announced.

Remembering our family dogs
In memory of Sierra (Mama's best friend), Louie (Danielle's boy), and Jackson (David's sidekick).
You are all missed tremendously. Dexter and I can never replace you but we do our best to bring happiness to the family.

Canines bringing in the holidays
This is an adorable picture Mama found on FaceBook. She tried to point out to me how obedient the pups appear to be. While she was pointing that out to me I reminded her they all should have bully sticks or different treats on the table because rawhide is bad for canines (so she always tells me).
- Contamination. As with pet toys, rawhide chews can contain trace amounts of toxic chemicals. And, as with other pet (or human) foods, Salmonella or E. coli contamination is possible. Even humans can be at risk when coming into contact with these bacteria on rawhide treats.
- Digestive irritation. Some dogs are simply sensitive or allergic to rawhide or other substances used in their manufacture. This can cause problems, including diarrhea.
- Choking or blockages. Rawhide bones and other edible chews can pose a choking and blockage risk. In fact, this is a much bigger risk than contamination or digestive irritation. If your dog swallows large pieces of rawhide, the rawhide can get stuck in the esophagus or other parts of the digestive tract. Depending on its size and where it is located, a vet may be able to remove these pieces fairly easily through the throat. But sometimes, abdominal surgery is needed to remove them from the stomach or intestines. If it isn’t resolved, a blockage can lead to death.

More sightings...
Oreo |
Mama thought the sunflower on the trail was amazing. She told me it hardly had any sun to help it thrive although it was doing well in the location. I didn't think anything about it was amazing...I didn't stop to smell the flower, or try to eat it or pee on it. My neighbor, Oreo, would definitely have peed on it! He pees on every pole, mailbox, and plant he passes. How can one little dog have so much fluid in him?

More tails from the trail
Mama parked the car in a different location this morning so we could venture on a path of the trail that we haven't explored this season. We met a woman who told us about free coffee at Wawa today. So we went and she was right--free coffee--any size you want. Not sure if all Wawas are participating. Unfortunately, no treats for pups:(

All about the painted rocks
2. Paint a design on it
3. Write "Waretown Rocks" on the back
4. Clear coat it to protect it from the weather
5. Then hide it in Waretown!
http://thekindnessrocksproject.com/
For anyone wondering where to find rocks to paint, you can go to Clayton Rock in waretown (across the street from Kristy's diner) .
-Then you head to the weigh station again with the rocks in the back of your car. They flag you along again, this time you need to go in and tell them what you have.
-I have never left there paying more than $5 and I get a good amount of rocks each time. Normally getting River Rock.

Coyotes in my area
- Be as big and loud as possible. Do not run or turn your back.
- Wave your arms, clap your hands, and shout in an authoritative voice.
- Make noise by banging pots and pans or using an air horn or whistle. These sounds can also alert the neighbors.
- Throw small stones, sticks, tennis balls or anything else you can lay your hands on. Remember... the intent is to scare and not to injure.
- Please be sure to have your pets on short leashes at all times and carry a flashlight.
- Shake or throw a “coyote shaker”—a soda can filled with pennies or pebbles and sealed with duct tape.
