Zoey has really taken to blogging. She asked me to help her create a blog just for and about her and other canines. She says she wants to spotlight dogs like her. So there is no time like the present to start the New Year off with www.Zoeytherescue.blogspot.com

Zoey wants to remind you that there are tons of animals that need a FUREVER home. Also shelters need donations not only monetary but many other items too. She says to take in consideration that there are lots of humans who donate to wonderful, much-needed causes to help humans but there is not enough humans that donate to help save animals.

Big, big dogs!

I see these dogs running behind my deck all the time. They never bark at me; just stay perfectly still and stare at me until the leader runs and then they all follow. Some times I see them on my walk; the other day I saw one with gigantic antlers...hmm, why don't I have antlers? I consider myself a "big dog."

They are really big dogs and I would love to play with them! Maybe they will eventually come up on my deck.

Again, the bad dog

I just could not help myself today. The morning started at 6:45, which is early for Mama, I was able to let myself out of my house because she didn't close the door completely the night before (first mistake she made). I am full of energy in the morning so I ran up the steps and jumped on top of her. She was stunned and not at all happy. She took a few looks at me before she realized, yes, I am really here.

She immediately jumped out of bed and took me outside for me to perform my morning ritual (usually Dad does this round but he was in the shower). We return and I immediately run upstairs to Mama's room (we play ball every night in there). The door was opened so in I went (second mistake Mama made). Mama stayed downstairs to have breakfast and I heard her complaining that her routine was off today because of me. She acts like I woke her in the middle of the night, which I could have because she didn't secure the door.

Shortly afterward Mama calls me down for breakfast. I am not one bit interested in my breakfast, which is highly out of character. I live for food! Mama starts to get worried thinking I am not feeling well. She says to Dad, "Zoey is acting strangely but not sickly. What could be wrong?" Of course, Dad looks at her puzzled and doesn't respond.

Although I am not going near my food bowl, she tries to trick me by giving me the Cheerios that I get every morning. It is a game we play. I love getting Cheerios and never turn my nose up at those little round things. Not this morning though. So now the kitchen floor is covered with Cheerios (third mistake Mama makes).  Mama then says to me, "Okay, you are not eating and you don't look sick so you did something you were not suppose to do." Inwardly, I start shaking in my paws...how does she know? She wasn't watching me, so how can she figure this out?  She starts looking around the living and dining rooms...nothing is out of the ordinary...she is on a mission to find the mischief I got into.

She starts to go upstairs and usually I am always one step behind or in front of her, sometimes she tells me she is going to fall on me. Not today though...I figure it is better for me if I rest myself down on the landing and hope she doesn't find the mess I created.

Within seconds, I realize hope went out the window really fast because she is screaming "bad dog...bad dog!" I don't have a clue who she is calling, who the heck is bad dog, I didn't see any other dog here today. She can't mean me because my name is Zoey aka Zo-Zo.

She comes to the steps and stares at me with that not so friendly face. She calls me up to inspect the damage the bad dog did. Yikes, one new wonderfully soft blanket torn to shreds!

I know bad dog didn't do it but I was wondering how I could blame it on the so-called bad dog. I tried looking sheepishly at Mama, then I tested my sorry persona, but she wasn't buying it.

Fourth mistake Mama made was leaving the blanket where I could reach it. I quickly decided it was best for me to run down the steps two at a time and head for my house instead of trying to point out all her mistakes that lead to the blanket in pieces on the floor.

She really should be more careful about her belongings! You never know when a "bad dog" is going to pay a visit.

PS: The picture of the couch I am laying on once had a skirt around it. I don't think I have to give you anymore details about the absence of the skirt--hint--it went the same way as the blanket and the shoes and the slippers.

Diesel

Police dogs are often the unsung heroes in situations like the one in France. .

Mama says, this dog's life was worth more than each and every member of ISIS.

Diesel, have fun in heaven. Mama says it is a wonderful place but we are not in a rush to get there.
